Recaro Aircraft Seating and its partner Eve Air Mobility unveiled a new aircraft seating solution specifically for eVTOL air taxis this week at the 2025 Aircraft Interiors Expo (AIX) in Hamburg, Germany.

According to Recaro, the eVTOL aircraft seats are ergonomically designed and made with lightweight materials such as aluminum, titanium, and composites to minimize added weight on small electric aircraft.

Eve Air Mobility, a spinoff of Brazilian airframer Embraer, announced in early 2024 that it had selected Recaro to design, certify, and produce the seats for the eVTOL air taxi it aims to bring to market by the end of 2026. Eve’s eVTOL aircraft seats four passengers plus one pilot and has a planned range of 100 kilometers (60 miles) on a single charge.

“The urban air mobility industry introduces a new range of engineering challenges, including seating,” said Eve CEO Johann Bordais. “This means aligning with partners who embrace reengineering aircraft from the ground up. Through our collaboration with Recaro, we’ve found new and inventive ways to make aircraft seating light enough for electric urban flights without sacrificing the in-cabin experience.”

Germany-based Recaro produces aircraft seats for multiple types of airliners, including the EJet family manufactured by Embraer. It will supply four passenger seats and a single pilot seat for each of Eve’s eVTOL aircraft, and it has agreed to deliver a total of 75,000 seats for the manufacturer.
