AutoFlight just pulled off a big first in the world of electric flying: its Matrix became the world’s first five-ton-plus eVTOL to complete a full transition flight.
With a max takeoff weight of 5,700kg, it even flew alongside its two-ton cargo sibling, showing off what heavy-lift electric aircraft can do.
Matrix can fit 2 standard shipping containers
Matrix is huge: 20-meter wingspan, roomy enough for up to 10 passengers or six VIPs with all the comforts (think climate control and big windows).
The cargo version can haul up to 1,500kg and fit two standard containers.
Its smart triplane design uses up to 20 lift motors for extra safety, with an all-electric range of 250km or up to 1,500km using hybrid power.
eVTOLs are here to stay
Most eVTOLs only carry four to six people and way less cargo.
Matrix changes the game for regional travel and logistics by carrying more people and stuff much farther.
Plus, this tech isn’t going away anytime soon.
