Indonesia’s aviation regulator has cleared AutoFlight’s autonomous V2000CG CarryAll eVTOL aircraft for use after validating its Chinese type certificate. On Friday, Shanghai-based AutoFlight reported that the approval was issued on June 3, claiming that this marks the first time an eVTOL model has secured an overseas type certificate.

The V2000CG earned a type certificate from the Civil Aviation Administration of China in March 2024. AutoFlight filed its application for this approval to be validated by the Indonesian Directorate General of Civil Aviation 11 months ago, in July 2025.

According to AutoFlight, the validation was based on comparative analysis of airworthiness standards and extensive technical consultation and review of documents. The company said the two-tonne V2000CG, which has a payload of around 880 pounds and a range of 109 nm, will solve some of the logistics challenges in Indonesia, which is spread across thousands of islands.

In May, Kazakhstan’s Alatau Advanced Air Group signed a memorandum of understanding that could see it buy 50 aircraft from AutoFlight. The manufacturer is also seeking validation for its design in the UAE, where last year Falcon Aviation Services ordered 50 eVTOLs in a mix of passenger and cargo versions to support the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company.

AutoFlight has not yet announced any customers in Indonesia. It did not say when it expects to start making deliveries in the Southeast Asian country or specify what the launch applications might be.

AutoFlight and another Chinese start-up, EHang, are the only eVTOL manufacturers in the world to have completed type certification in their home countries. Several U.S. and European companies are still engaged in protracted approval processes that have seen their delivery timelines slip.
