AutoFlight successfully demonstrates autonomous eVTOL cargo transport in China linking mountainous regions with high speed rail for rapid agricultural logistics delivery

AutoFlight has completed China’s first 2-ton class eVTOL cargo transport trial, demonstrating the potential of autonomous aircraft to transform logistics in remote regions.

The trial deployed the CarryAll V2000CG aircraft to transport fresh spring tea between Anshun and Guiyang, two cities in Guizhou province approximately 120 kilometres apart. The flight crossed mountainous terrain in just 37 minutes, significantly reducing transport time compared to road routes.

Following the air transfer, the tea was transported via high-speed rail to Shanghai, covering nearly 2,000 kilometres. The combined “eVTOL plus rail” model enabled same day delivery, allowing fresh produce to reach major urban markets within 24 hours.

The CarryAll V2000CG is a fully autonomous, unmanned aircraft capable of operating without an onboard pilot. This enhances operational efficiency while reducing safety risks associated with traditional cargo transport.

The aircraft offers a maximum payload of 400 kilograms, a range of up to 200 kilometres and a cruising speed of around 180 kilometres per hour. Its vertical take off and landing capability allows for point to point delivery without the need for runway infrastructure.

The model has received Type, Production and Airworthiness Certification from the Civil Aviation Administration of China, marking a significant milestone for large scale eVTOL cargo operations.

According to AutoFlight, the trial highlights several advantages, including faster delivery times, improved freshness for perishable goods and reduced environmental impact through fully electric propulsion.

Li Yun, Chief Commercial Officer, said: “This innovative ‘autonomous eVTOL air transfer + high-speed rail trunk line’ model breaks logistics bottlenecks in high-altitude mountainous areas.”

Beyond agricultural logistics, AutoFlight’s eVTOL platforms are being tested across a range of applications, including emergency response, offshore operations and intercity cargo transport.

The company is also advancing its passenger eVTOL programme, with its six seat model currently undergoing certification as the broader market for advanced air mobility continues to develop.
